Congress attacks ECI for freezing TMC name and symbol in party feud

The Congress criticised the Election Commission's decision to freeze the All India Trinamool Congress name and party symbol during the dispute between party chief Mamata Banerjee and rebel faction leader Ritabrata Banerjee.
Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP KC Venugopal called the move a "blatantly unconstitutional hijack by the BJP" in a late-night post, describing it as Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's "late night birthday gift to Modi ji". He alleged the decision would enable opponents of Mamata Banerjee to rebel and switch sides.
