Couple arrested for ₹4.5 crore property mortgage fraud targeting 54 victims

A couple has been arrested for allegedly defrauding 54 victims in a ₹4.5 crore property mortgage scam. The accused used a well-planned scheme involving fake rental agreements and fraudulent brokers to gain the trust of victims before convincing them to mortgage their properties.
The scam operated by building confidence through fabricated transactions and intermediaries. Once trust was established, the accused would persuade victims to use their properties as collateral, subsequently misappropriating the funds.
Police investigations revealed the systematic nature of the fraud targeting multiple property owners across a wide geographic area.
