Mumbai Crime Branch Issues Lookout Circular Against Suspended BMC Officer in ₹16.24 Crore Fraud Case

The Mumbai Crime Branch has issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) against suspended BMC Assistant Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Patil, accused in a ₹16.24 crore cheating case filed by actor Javed Jaffrey's family. The action follows concerns that Patil may attempt to flee the country as investigators intensify their search.
The case involves an alleged investment fraud where UK-based businessman Nishit Patel is accused of deceiving Jaffrey and family members by promising returns through investments in the New Kamalkunj redevelopment project in Bandra West. Patel was arrested earlier by the Crime Branch's Property Cell. A second accused, Rupesh More, was recently arrested from his Santacruz residence on charges of creating forged government documents and impersonating officials.
Investigators found that allegedly siphoned funds were routed through multiple shell entities. Police also allege Patel possessed a Rolex watch worth ₹20 lakh belonging to Jaffrey's son and foreign currency including Euros, Swiss Francs, UAE Dirhams and Saudi Riyals.
