CUET-UG Exam Overhaul Planned, But NTA Faces Delivery Challenges

The Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate programmes is undergoing reforms, with a proposed shift to a one-day examination format. The change is intended to reduce repeated travel and associated costs, potentially benefiting economically disadvantaged students.
However, experts and stakeholders have flagged multiple implementation challenges for the National Testing Agency. Key concerns include exam-centre accessibility across regions, timely distribution of admit cards, ensuring technical reliability of the testing infrastructure, and maintaining transparent communication with candidates.
While the single-day model offers financial relief to students from lower-income backgrounds, its success depends on NTA's ability to address infrastructure gaps and operational consistency. The agency must ensure equitable access to examination centres, particularly in rural and remote areas, while maintaining the quality and security of the test.
