Dalit women's freedom hinges on land, economic power and political voice

A recent Dalit Women's Conference in Chennai brought attention to the systemic violence faced by Dalit women in everyday life. Participants emphasized that economic empowerment stands as the most significant tool for achieving equality and freedom.
The conference underscored the need for Dalit women to have greater access to land, financial resources, and political participation. These three pillars—land ownership, economic independence, and a voice in decision-making—were identified as essential for breaking cycles of marginalization and oppression.
