MLA Darekar Urges CM to Include Redevelopment Authority in BMC's Digital Portal

Mumbai MLA and Chairman of the Maharashtra Housing Self/Group Redevelopment Authority Pravin Darekar has written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis requesting that the Authority be designated as the state-level coordinator for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's proposed digital 'Mumbai Redevelopment Facility Portal'. The BMC is developing the AI and GIS-based platform to streamline urban redevelopment projects.
In his letter, Darekar emphasized that self and group redevelopment involves complex decision-making, financial planning, and legal frameworks beyond construction approvals. He stressed that the Authority can guide societies through procedures, funding options, and government concessions.
Darekar highlighted the multi-agency scope of Mumbai's housing landscape across BMC, MHADA, SRA, and MMRDA, emphasizing the need for inter-agency coordination. He proposed a joint committee to finalize the portal's framework and recommended a dedicated section for self-redevelopment with feasibility estimators and real-time approval tracking.
