Defence Ministry approves over ₹2,400 crore procurement from startups and MSMEs

The Defence Ministry has approved procurement orders exceeding ₹2,400 crore from startups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as part of efforts to strengthen India's domestic defence manufacturing base.
Thousands of smaller enterprises are increasingly participating in the defence sector supply chain, supporting both domestic production and export initiatives. The move aligns with the government's push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports.
India's defence exports have expanded significantly, reaching nearly 100 countries. The procurement approvals are expected to boost business opportunities for smaller firms while accelerating the country's strategic goal of becoming a major defence manufacturing hub.
