Over 1,000 detained in Delhi ahead of planned protest against Chief Election Commissioner

Delhi police detained over 1,000 people across multiple districts on Friday evening and Saturday morning ahead of a planned protest against the Chief Election Commissioner scheduled at Jantar Mantar. The detentions were conducted at various locations including border areas and transport hubs throughout the capital.
Authorities justified the preventive action as necessary to prevent mass mobilisation and maintain law and order in Delhi. The operations targeted multiple districts to disrupt the organisation of the planned demonstration before it could materialise at the designated protest site.
The detention of more than 1,000 individuals represents a significant police response to the anticipated demonstration against the Chief Election Commissioner.
