Delhi HC criticises SSC for three-year exam ban without hearing

The Delhi High Court has criticised the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for cancelling candidature and barring candidates from examinations for three years without giving them a chance to be heard. The court observed that such action, imposed without an opportunity to respond, can cause lasting stigma and be "almost akin to civil death" for candidates.
The HC's remarks highlight concerns over the SSC's administrative procedure in handling candidature cancellations and exam bans. The judgment underscores the importance of natural justice principles, including the right to be heard before facing significant penalties that affect a candidate's career prospects.
