Bombay High Court's Goa bench questions EC over voter deletions in SIR exercise

The Bombay High Court's Goa bench has questioned the Election Commission over voter deletions during the Systematic Voters' Revision (SIR) exercise. The bench asked what the purpose of SIR is if citizens are being removed from electoral rolls.
The court's remarks came while reviewing concerns about voter deletions in the SIR process. The bench cited Supreme Court observations that ensuring Indian citizens are included in the final voter list is the Election Commission's responsibility.
The comments reflect wider legal challenges to the voter revision exercise, with concerns raised over how names are being excluded from electoral rolls.
