Supreme Court declines to transfer Satya Niketan collapse case from Delhi HC

The Supreme Court has declined to transfer the Satya Niketan PG Hostel building collapse case from the Delhi High Court to itself. A Division Bench comprising Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R. Mahadevan directed concerned parties to file comprehensive affidavits and reports regarding compliance with earlier SC directions on building safety and inspections.
The collapse at Satya Niketan, Motibagh, in New Delhi resulted in 7 deaths and 12 injuries. The Delhi High Court had previously issued directions for a comprehensive examination of the regulatory framework governing PG hostels, investigation into regulatory lapses, and fixing responsibility of officials. The Amicus Curiae informed the SC that proceedings before the Delhi High Court were "moving in the right direction."
