Delhi HC To Hear Telegram Ban Challenge Today As NEET Re-Exam Looms

The Delhi High Court's vacation bench sought the Centre's response on Telegram's petition challenging the temporary suspension of its services across India. Justice Tejas Karia issued notice on the writ petition and scheduled the matter for further hearing on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., granting authorities liberty to file their reply with relevant documents.
Telegram challenged restrictions imposed under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, following recommendations by the National Testing Agency. The government announced the temporary suspension until June 22 to prevent alleged paper leaks, misinformation campaigns and cheating networks ahead of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.
