Delhi Police detain CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke ahead of Tricolour march

Delhi Police detained Citizen for Justice and Peace (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on October 16 as he headed to Connaught Place for a planned tricolour march. This marks the second detention of Dipke in a week. He was previously detained at Delhi airport after arriving from Mumbai to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Systematic Irregularity Report (SIR).
Earlier in the day, over 20 Delhi Police personnel visited Dipke's residence in Jhhandewalan and served him a notice directing him to refrain from any action that could adversely affect the rights of citizens, traders, travellers, patients and others. The notice came ahead of security arrangements across the national capital.
CJP had called for the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march at Central Park, Connaught Place on Friday at 5 p.m. However, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) closed Central Park on October 16 and 17. Delhi Police deployed over 6,000 personnel and 220 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) across New Delhi to manage any law and order situation. Section 163 has been imposed in the Connaught Place area.
