Delhi Police Detain Protesters at Jantar Mantar Demanding CEC's Resignation

Delhi Police detained several protesters, activists and political leaders at Jantar Mantar on Friday during demonstrations demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and opposing the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Members of the Students' Federation of India, Indian Youth Congress and other groups were among those detained. AISA president Neha Bora, CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya and activist Yogendra Yadav were also detained. TMC MP Mahua Moitra participated in the demonstration and alleged that Kumar should resign and the SIR exercise halted.
The protests followed Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's demand for Kumar's resignation, alleging India's elections were "fundamentally broken" and accusing the CEC of misconduct.
