Delhi Police detains CJP activist Abhijeet ahead of flag-hoisting rally; party condemns arrest

Delhi Police detained Abhijeet Deepke, a key figure associated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), as he headed to a flag-hoisting rally on October 16. Police cited section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for the detention. Video footage showed Deepke questioning the grounds for his arrest, arguing he had broken no law and offering to hold the flag elsewhere if the location was restricted.
The CJP responded sharply to the detention, stating the government feared youth waving the national flag. Party officials released videos of the incident and claimed Deepke's arrest was a grave violation of his rights. In one video, Deepke is seen being led away by police after the confrontation.
The party vowed that further arrests would only motivate more youth to take to the streets. CJP founder Deepke's call for the rally had been made public on October 16 at 5 p.m. The detention has sparked a political row over civil liberties and peaceful protest rights.
