Delhi locks down as security forces detain 3,300+ in anti-CEC protest

Security forces in Delhi detained over 3,300 people on Saturday as authorities imposed widespread restrictions to prevent protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Cockroach Janata Party and allied groups had called for demonstrations demanding the CEC's resignation.
Access to Jantar Mantar, a traditional protest site in the capital, was barred as part of the lockdown measures. The crackdown reflects the scale of the unrest and authorities' determination to contain the agitation.
The detentions and access restrictions mark an escalation in the confrontation between protest groups and the administration over the election commission's functioning.
