Delhi Police Denies Permission For Jantar Mantar Protest Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Delhi Police has denied permission for a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar scheduled for Friday, October 2, officials said. The demonstration, called by the All India Students' Association (AISA), Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha, and Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan, was expected to draw 3,000 to 4,000 participants.
Police have deployed additional security personnel and Central Armed Police Forces at Jantar Mantar and key points across New Delhi. Barricades have been erected at entry and exit points to regulate movement and prevent unauthorised gatherings.
Organisers are seeking Kumar's resignation or impeachment, citing alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and the conduct of elections. They have also raised concerns over the Election Commission's handling of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, claiming it questions the protection of citizens' voting rights.
