Delhi turns into fortress as protests loom; internet curbed, markets shut

Authorities have implemented stringent security measures across Delhi in anticipation of a large-scale protest. Internet services have been disrupted in parts of the capital, while several markets and Metro stations remain shut to prevent gatherings.
The restrictions follow a call for what has been termed a 'Jantar Mantar 2.0' — a reference to major demonstrations at the iconic protest site. Dozens of trains bound for Delhi have been cancelled as part of preventive measures.
These steps reflect concerns over potential large-scale agitation in the national capital. The security lockdown demonstrates the scale of preparations undertaken by city authorities to manage the anticipated crowds and maintain law and order.
