Demographic panel's questionnaire raises concerns over data collection scope

The High-Level Committee on Demographic Changes (HLCDC), headed by retired Supreme Court judge Prakash Prabhakar Naolekar, was constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs on May 26 to examine demographic shifts resulting from illegal immigration and other factors. The committee has been tasked with recommending measures to address these changes and proposing an institutional framework for population stabilisation.
The panel's questionnaire has drawn attention for the breadth and depth of data it seeks to collect, raising questions about the scope and methodology of the demographic study.
