DigiLocker Expands to Four States, Giving 37 Crore Citizens Digital Access to Family IDs

India's digital document wallet DigiLocker has integrated Family ID credentials from Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, enabling over 37 crore citizens to digitally access, store and share household identity documents. The move aims to simplify government service access and reduce reliance on physical paperwork.
Citizens can now fetch existing Family IDs directly into their DigiLocker accounts for verification or government services. The platform also allows eligible residents to enrol for new Family IDs digitally and provide consent within the platform. In Rajasthan, around 7.5 crore residents can access Jan Aadhaar for welfare schemes including health insurance and public distribution. Maharashtra's 14 crore residents gain access to Mahasarathi, used for government schemes delivery.
