DMK to contest Madurantakam and Dharapuram bypolls, setting up three-way fight

The DMK has announced it will contest the upcoming bypolls in Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies in Tamil Nadu, transforming the elections into three-cornered contests.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami had earlier announced his party would also field candidates for these bypolls. The entry of both major parties sets up competitive races in the two seats.
The bypolls are expected to be closely watched as a test of political strength for both the ruling DMK and opposition AIADMK in the state.
