EC Adds 2.37 Crore Young Voters, Tightens Parent ID Rules

The Election Commission has added 2.37 crore new electors in the 18-28 age group to electoral rolls. Amid a row over voter declarations, EC officials have made it mandatory for new voters filling Form 6 to attach Statutory Identity Register (SIR) details of their parents for inclusion in electoral rolls.

The move aims to streamline the voter registration process and address concerns over the declaration mechanism used by young voters during enrollment.
