Election Commission orders drive to register 13 crore names dropped from draft voter rolls

The Election Commission has ordered states to launch a targeted campaign to register approximately 13 crore names that were dropped from draft voter rolls. The directive follows concerns over exclusions in the electoral registration process.
The EC's move aims to ensure that eligible citizens who were inadvertently left out during the initial draft compilation are given the opportunity to register as voters. States have been instructed to conduct special drives to identify and enrol these individuals.
This initiative underscores efforts to expand electoral participation and ensure comprehensive voter registration across the country ahead of upcoming electoral processes.
