Election Commission reserves TMC symbol amid internal dispute; both factions asked to adopt new names ahead of bypolls

The Election Commission of India has reserved the Trinamool Congress symbol following an internal dispute within the party. Both the faction led by Mamata Banerjee and the rival group associated with Ritabrata Banerjee have been asked to propose new names and symbols before the upcoming bypolls.
The ECI said the decision aims to place both groups on an "even keel" and safeguard their respective rights and interests. The move comes as the party faces a significant internal split that could affect electoral outcomes in the state.
