CEC Gyanesh Kumar's Security Enhanced Amid SIR Protest Demands

Security arrangements around Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar have been strengthened following escalating protests over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has positioned additional reserve personnel at Kumar's Delhi residence, the Election Commission headquarters, and as part of his personal security detail.
Election Commission officials stated that Kumar's existing Z+ security classification remains unchanged and characterized the additional deployment as a precautionary step based on current security conditions. The enhanced measures come as the INDIA bloc and other Opposition parties intensify their push for Kumar's removal, citing concerns about the SIR process.
The protests reflect ongoing political tensions surrounding the electoral roll revision exercise, with Opposition groups questioning the conduct and outcomes of the special intensive revision initiative.
