Elections For 12 Vacant Rajya Sabha Seats Scheduled For September 3: Key Dates And Details
In a significant development for India's legislative landscape, the Election Commission has announced that elections will be held on September 3 for 12 vacant Rajya Sabha seats across nine states. This decision comes in the wake of ten members, including high-profile figures such as Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Jyotiraditya Scindia, moving to the Lok Sabha and thereby vacating their Rajya Sabha seats.
The Election Commission has outlined the critical deadlines for the upcoming elections. The notification for the Rajya Sabha elections will be issued on August 14, setting the stage for the electoral process. Candidates interested in contesting these seats will have until August 21 to file their nomination papers. These dates are pivotal for potential candidates as they prepare to vie for these prestigious legislative positions.
Each of the 12 Rajya Sabha seats will have separate elections on September 3, with the results expected to be declared on the same day. This expedited process will ensure that the new occupants of these seats are known promptly, allowing for a smooth transition and continued representation in the Rajya Sabha.
