Experts tackle arbitration enforcement challenges at India Digital ADR Summit 2026

The India Digital ADR Summit 2026, organised by the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, hosted a panel discussion on enforcement challenges in arbitration. The session examined difficulties between award pronouncement and eventual enforcement, including limited court review roles, arbitrator expertise, frivolous challenges, and distinctions between domestic and international arbitration.
Panellists included Senior Advocates Devan Parikh, Ratan Kumar Singh and Sonal Kumar Singh, along with partner Vishrutyi Sahni from JSA Advocates. The moderator, Ronak Desai, highlighted that an arbitral award has limited practical value unless successfully enforced. The discussion explored judicial intervention limits, patent illegality provisions under Section 34(2A) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, and the need for specialised arbitration benches.
