How Family Members Become Political Villains in Indian Politics

Indian politics frequently witnesses rifts between family loyalty and party interests. BSP chief Mayawati expelled her nephew Akash Anand from the party after his father-in-law Ashok Siddharth refused to fully exit politics. Akash, formerly BSP's national coordinator, was dropped after failing to repost Mayawati's statement about Siddharth's political retirement. This marked his third expulsion from the party.
Such family-driven political conflicts are not isolated cases. Bihar's Lalu Prasad Yadav's brother-in-law, Maharashtra's Pawar and Thackeray families have all experienced similar tensions. These instances highlight a recurring pattern where family members become obstacles to party leadership, forcing difficult choices between personal relationships and political consolidation.
