FIR filed against Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi over All India Radio sit-in

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have been booked on trespassing charges following their protest at Akashvani Bhawan in Central Delhi on Tuesday. Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections at Parliament Street Police Station, with an investigation now underway. The charges relate to the leaders allegedly entering the All India Radio office during a protest march against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Around 200 MPs from the INDIA bloc had organized a protest march from Makar Dwar of Parliament toward the Election Commission headquarters. The march was halted at Akashwani Bhawan after protesters had covered approximately 700 metres on Parliament Street, where police had erected barricades. Rahul Gandhi climbed over the police barricades and entered the building through a smaller gate that remained open, subsequently followed by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other leaders including KC Venugopal and Deepender Hooda. The group demanded to meet the Election Commissioner.
The leaders staged a sit-in protest inside the Akashwani Bhawan premises for around seven hours before being detained by police at 7 pm. They were taken to the New Police Lines in Kingsway Camp in Northwest Delhi. Senior Delhi Police officers had attempted to convince the leaders to leave the building before the detention took place.
