UPI MDR decision was professional, not under foreign pressure: FM Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman dismissed Opposition allegations that the government had succumbed to foreign pressure in its decision on UPI merchant discount rates (MDR). Sitharaman clarified that the MDR was not a tax and would not benefit the government financially. She stressed that the decision was made on professional grounds without any external influence.
