Former Rajya Sabha MP loses ₹7.80 crore in WhatsApp-based cyber fraud
A former Rajya Sabha MP fell victim to a cyber fraud involving ₹7.80 crore, according to police investigations. Fraudsters gained unauthorized access to Naresh Gujral's WhatsApp account and used it to impersonate him.
The criminals then contacted Gujral's employee and convinced them to transfer the substantial sum. The initial probe has confirmed that the hacking and impersonation scheme was the modus operandi used to execute the fraud.
