E20 fuel boosts mileage, aids farmers, safe for vehicles: Gadkari

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said E20 fuel — which can be blended with up to 20% ethanol — will increase vehicle mileage while benefiting the farming sector. He stated that automobile manufacturers will launch vehicles equipped with flex-fuel engines capable of running on 100% ethanol, eliminating the need for petrol and diesel imports valued at ₹22 lakh crore annually.

Gadkari dismissed concerns that the fuel would damage vehicles, asserting that E20 poses no harm to engines. He highlighted environmental benefits, saying widespread adoption would reduce pollution levels across the country.
