Gauhati High Court recognises Talaq-E-Hassan as valid form of divorce

The Gauhati High Court has held that Talaq-E-Hassan constitutes a valid and recognised form of Talaq under law and is not prohibited.

The court clarified that registration of such divorces must be sought before the jurisdictional Marriage and Divorce Registrar under the Assam Compulsory Registration of Muslim Marriages and Divorces Act, 2024.
