India beats West Indies in record-breaking ODI; Gill's 223 powers historic chase

The second ODI between India and West Indies in Guwahati on Wednesday produced one of the highest-scoring matches in ODI history. West Indies posted 405/7, their highest-ever ODI total, with centuries from John Campbell (101), Shai Hope (104) and Amir Jangoo (114)—the first West Indies trio to score centuries in the same innings.
India chased down the target in 43.3 overs, scoring 406/2 to take an unassailable 2-0 series lead. Captain Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 223, hitting 26 fours and eight sixes at a strike rate of 167.67. Ruturaj Gaikwad finished unbeaten on 31.
The combined 811-run aggregate ranks third in men's ODI history, behind Australia vs South Africa (872 runs, Johannesburg 2006) and India vs Sri Lanka (825 runs, Rajkot 2009). Gill's 223 is the fourth-highest individual ODI score, behind Rohit Sharma's 264 and Martin Guptill's unbeaten 237.
