Giriraj Singh hits back at Owaisi over UCC remarks, accuses him of playing Jinnah's role

Union Minister Giriraj Singh responded sharply to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi's statement on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Speaking in Patna, Singh said Owaisi, a senior barrister, should not play the role of Jinnah and recalled that India's partition was based on religion.
Singh alleged that Owaisi selectively invokes Sharia law to create Hindu-Muslim divisions. He pointed out that when a Muslim commits murder, Owaisi does not demand punishment under Islamic law but instead relies on IPC provisions. Singh said there cannot be ambiguity on this matter—either religious law applies uniformly or the civil code does.
Singh also contrasted India's secular approach with Pakistan's religious basis, noting that despite temples being demolished and girls abused in Pakistan-based on religion—while India has allowed thousands of mosques to be built—Indians never objected. He questioned why objections are now being raised.
