Government absorbs up to Rs 2,700 subsidy per urea bag as global costs surge
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the Centre is absorbing a substantial subsidy on urea for farmers, currently estimated at approximately Rs 2,700 per bag. She emphasised the government's commitment to providing essential farm inputs despite elevated global market prices reaching around Rs 3,000 per bag.
Sitharaman highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to support agricultural investment and ensure farmers have access to necessary resources. The subsidy underscores the Centre's focus on maintaining economic stability in the agricultural sector.
