Government to Finalise Critical Minerals Stockpiling Policy Within a Month

The government is poised to finalise a policy on stockpiling critical minerals within the next month, according to Mines Secretary Keshav Chandra. The initiative aims to bolster strategic sectors including defence, advanced electronics, and aerospace by ensuring stable supply chains.
The government plans to establish four dedicated critical minerals processing parks across different states to enhance value addition and domestic processing capabilities. A comprehensive list of more than 30 critical minerals has already been released to identify essential materials required by key industries.
This move reflects the government's focus on reducing dependence on imports for minerals critical to national security and economic development. The policy framework is expected to create infrastructure for mineral processing while supporting domestic manufacturing in high-tech sectors.
