Government uses e-way bills to track fertiliser diversion amid supply concerns
The government has rolled out a monitoring system using e-way bill data to track the movement of subsidised fertiliser across the country. The initiative comes as concerns about fertiliser supply have risen due to geopolitical tensions involving Iran.
The Finance Ministry has analysed trucking routes to identify diversions and illegal unloading of fertiliser. Reports indicate fertiliser is being diverted from intended distribution channels, prompting enhanced enforcement action.
Accross India, thousands of raids and notices have been issued against violators involved in fertiliser diversion, underscoring the government's push to ensure subsidised stock reaches intended beneficiaries.
