GST rate cuts negated by inflation, claims Congress

The Congress party has claimed that recent GST rate cuts have been neutralised by inflation, leaving consumers without meaningful relief. According to a Congress spokesman, prices of several consumer goods have returned to nearly their pre-GST cut levels despite the tax reductions, without any significant boost to consumption.
The opposition party's assertion suggests that while the government reduced GST rates on certain items, inflationary pressures have eroded the intended benefit for consumers. Congress contended that the cumulative effect has failed to deliver the purchasing power gains that rate cuts were meant to provide.
