GST faceless assessment for multi-jurisdiction payers to start next fiscal

The GST regime is set to introduce faceless assessment for taxpayers registered under multiple Central GST (CGST) jurisdictions, beginning the next fiscal year. This move aims to streamline compliance and reduce direct interaction between tax officials and assessees.
The framework for this initiative will be placed for public consultation by the end of the current year, allowing stakeholders to provide feedback before implementation. The faceless assessment model is expected to enhance transparency and standardise the audit process across jurisdictions.
This development is part of ongoing efforts to modernise GST administration and leverage technology for efficient tax administration in India.
