GST Reform 2026: Small businesses, exporters to benefit from simplified compliance

The GST Council has approved key reforms aimed at easing compliance burdens for businesses. Small businesses will now have the option to file a single GST return annually, replacing the previous requirement of multiple filings throughout the year.
Exporters are set to gain from expedited refund processes and enhanced input tax credits on eligible manufacturing expenses. These changes are designed to improve cash flow and reduce administrative complexity for export-oriented firms.
While the reforms do not include rate reductions, policymakers believe the simplified filing procedures and enhanced refund mechanisms will provide substantial relief to small and medium enterprises as well as exporters operating under the GST regime.
