Gurugram petrol pumps to get 249 cameras to detect end-of-life vehicles

Gurugram petrol pumps will be equipped with 249 ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras to identify and prevent sale of fuel to end-of-life vehicles. This initiative forms the first phase of a larger project to install 775 such cameras across four National Capital Region districts.
The cameras aim to enforce vehicular emission norms and prevent polluting vehicles from remaining on roads. The system will flag vehicles that have completed their prescribed lifecycle and are no longer legally permitted to operate.
