Gurugram tightens pollution curbs with PUC checks, fuel restrictions, live monitoring

Gurugram is rolling out a comprehensive winter pollution control strategy ahead of the smog season. The plan includes strict enforcement of Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates for vehicles, with authorities denying fuel to vehicles lacking valid certificates.
The city will deploy live monitoring systems across approximately 1,000 sites to track air quality in real time. This multi-pronged approach aims to reduce vehicular emissions and other pollution sources that typically worsen air quality during winter months.
The initiative reflects growing concern over seasonal air pollution in the National Capital Region, with authorities implementing preventive measures to improve public health and environmental conditions.
