HAL to begin LCA Mk-1A fighter jet deliveries by year-end

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) anticipates commencing delivery of the Light Combat Aircraft Mk-1A to the Indian Air Force by the end of this year, according to HAL Director Ravi K. The company is resolving final technical challenges related to radar integration and weapons integration.
HAL plans to deliver approximately 10 fighter jets in fiscal year 2026-27. The director stated that 10 engines from GE Aerospace have been received and 27 LCA Mk-1A airframes are ready. The IAF has ordered 180 Mk-1A jets valued at ₹1.1 lakh crore across two contracts signed in February 2021 and September 2025.
The IAF has expressed concern over the LCA Mk-1A programme's pace, as delays in inducting new fighters could impact operational capability. Engine supply constraints from the US have previously slowed the project's progress.
