Private school teachers challenge Haryana's Census deployment plan in court

Private school teachers in Haryana have moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the state government's plan to deploy them for Census duties.
The teachers have challenged the directive, arguing that assigning them work unrelated to their core teaching responsibilities violates the autonomy of private educational institutions. They contend that such deployment undermines the independent functioning of private schools.
The legal challenge raises questions about the extent to which government can mandate staff from private institutions for administrative and survey work without their consent or compensation arrangements.
