High Court Issues Contempt Notice to The Hindu, Dainik Bhaskar Over Dera Sacha Sauda Ad

A High Court has issued a suo motu contempt of court notice to newspapers The Hindu and Dainik Bhaskar over a front-page advertisement concerning Dera Sacha Sauda and its chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
The advertisement claimed that forces opposed to the Dera had attempted to implicate Singh, who was convicted of rape, through false witnesses and fabricated cases. The court took cognizance of the matter and initiated contempt proceedings against the publications.
The action marks judicial intervention in media coverage related to a high-profile case involving the spiritual organization and its leadership.
