High Court rebukes Noida DM for NSA detention of student activist, says oath violated

The High Court has sharply criticized the Noida District Magistrate for the National Security Act detention of Akriti Chaudhary, a Delhi University graduate and student activist. The court found the DM guilty of violating his oath in ordering the arrest.
According to the HC's observations, the DM sought to make an example of the activist to deter others from exercising their right to freedom of speech. Chaudhary was arrested under NSA in connection with a Noida workers' protest.
The court's harsh rebuke underscores concerns over misuse of preventive detention laws against activists exercising constitutional rights.
