High Court Revokes Rowdy Sheet Proceedings Against TDP Office Attackers

A single-judge bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, headed by Justice K. Maheswara Rao, heard a batch of petitions filed by B. Murali Krishna and others challenging proceedings issued by the Vijayawada police commissioner on September 22 to open rowdy sheets against individuals allegedly involved in an attack on the Telugu Desam office.
The Vijayawada police commissioner, S.V. Rajasekhar Babu, informed the court that the proceedings to open rowdy sheets against those allegedly involved in the attack had been withdrawn. Petitioners' counsel Veluru Maheswara Reddy argued that police standing orders prescribed specific norms for opening rowdy sheets and that the commissioner had not followed them in issuing the original proceedings.
The court disposed of the petitions after taking note of the memo filed by the police commissioner revoking the proceedings to open rowdy sheets against the accused.
