Hyderabad's unified mobility pass struggles to gain traction among commuters

Hyderabad's common mobility pass, priced at ₹8,500 per month, has failed to attract significant uptake despite promising unlimited travel on Metro Rail and RTC buses within the Outer Ring Road limits. The pass excludes MMTS trains and last-mile connectivity services, creating gaps in the integrated transport experience.
Commuters have identified several barriers to adoption. While the pass aims to simplify multi-modal travel, affordable fares alone are insufficient without comprehensive coverage. The lack of MMTS integration and feeder services limits its utility for many daily travelers who rely on multiple transport modes.
Transport experts emphasize that seamless commuting requires better coordination among the city's various transport agencies. Effective last-mile connectivity solutions and expanded coverage are essential to make the pass a viable alternative to private vehicles and improve the overall appeal of public transportation in Hyderabad.
