IAF needs 36-40 fighter jets yearly; Pakistan's fifth-gen plans concerning: Air Chief

India's Air Chief has stated that the Indian Air Force (IAF) needs to induct 36-40 fighter jets annually to sustain its operational capabilities and force levels. The statement underscores the pressing need for aircraft procurement to address the IAF's existing deficiency.
The Air Chief also flagged concern over Pakistan's fifth-generation fighter jet programme, viewing it as a potential threat to regional air superiority. The development reflects India's focus on modernizing its air combat fleet to counter emerging security challenges in the subcontinent.
